While the current negotiations between Yemeni warring parties continue, under the auspices of the United Nations, mothers hold on to the hope of releasing their detained sons, who have been imprisoned for as long as seven years.
During the detention periods, mother, wives and children stationed at the gates of prisons and official offices, looking for their relatives and demanding saving them from torture, mistreatment, and prevention of medical care, as well as, being tried at unjust courts resulting in group execution judgements.
At Abductees’ Mothers Association, we rally here by the office of the United Nations’ Special Envoy for Yemen to condemn the unfair trials and the execution judgements of our sons. We demand stopping the trials and judgements, and take serious steps towards the complete and unconditional release of all our sons.
We call upon the Special Envoy to take urgent actions to save the abductees, and mount the necessary pressure on all parties to immediately release them.
We stress on the necessity of the compensation and reparation of the victims and their families. We, also, demand holding proper trials for the violators as it is an undeniable right for their crimes are imprescriptible.
