Al Amal Womens Cultural and Social Foundation organizes a workshop on protection mechanisms for women human rights defenders

This morning, Saturday, December 30, 2023, the Al Amal Women’s Cultural and Social Foundation organized a workshop entitled Protection Mechanisms for Women Human Rights Defenders.

In the workshop, which was inaugurated by Dr. Abha Abdullah Baawedan, President of the Foundation, she welcomed the attendees and explained that this workshop comes within the Women Peacemakers project, which aims to monitor the violations that occur to women human rights defenders in Hadramaut Governorate. She spoke that this workshop comes within the Your Silence Hurts Me campaign, which the Foundation launched during the campaign 16 days to combat violence against women, which urges women human rights defenders not to be silent about the violations and harassment facing women human rights defenders.

In the workshop, which was moderated by human rights activist Alia Al-Hamedi, she talked about human rights, the challenges facing women human rights defenders, and protection mechanisms, and some different local experiences of women human rights defenders were presented.

It is worth noting that the number of participants reached 25 participants from various judicial and union bodies, lawyers, media professionals, activists, civil society organizations, and the Human Rights Office. The workshop came out with several recommendations, including the establishment of a center for defending and protecting human rights, which will be an umbrella to provide protection services and defend human rights victims, in coordination with civil society organizations. working in the field.
