Together for Her, an art exhibition embodies the reality of the violation of women’s rights in Yemen

On Wednesday morning, February 22, an exhibition of Fine Arts and Photography was opened in Hadhramout Governorate,under the title “Together for Her”, which aimed to embody the violations that women are exposed to in Yemen as a result of the conflict, with an artistic template whose threads are woven by the fingers of the creators of fine arts and photography in Yemen.

The activities of the exhibition,which lasts two days, are part of the activities of the project (Together for Her), which is implemented by the Al-Amal Women’s and Sociocultural Foundation and Together for Her Network, to monitor the violations that women are exposed to as a result of the conflict, which was held at the Department of Fine Arts of the College of Girls at Hadhramout University.

The exhibition’s activities were inaugurated by the two dupety heads of Hadhramout University, Dr.Abdullah Saleh Babeer, dupety head of Academic Affairs, and Dr. Salem Mubarak Al-Obthani, dupety head of Student Affairs, and in the presence of both Dr. Najat Ahmed Bu Saba’, the College of Girls Dean, Dr. Mohammad Barsheed, the College of Arts Dean, Dr. Arwa Ba’waidan, Member of the Founding Council of Al-Amal Women’s and Sociocultural Foundation and dupety Dean of the College of Open Education, and Ms. Maryam Al-Aidros, Member of the Board of Trustees of Al-Amal Women’s and Sociocultural Foundation.

The paintings embodied the reality of women in the time of the protracted conflict in Yemen, the violations they are exposed to, and its results in the future. A competition was launched by the network through social media platforms to choose the best painting expressing this reality, to win a financial prize.

The exhibition was widespread among activists, observers, jurists, academics, students of the Faculty of Mass Communication and Faculty of Law, and female members of the College of Girls. The number of visitors to the exhibition on the first day reached more than 200 visitors.

The inauguration ceremony of the exhibition’s activities were broadcasted live via Zoom application.

The total number of the participating paintings amounted to 33 paintings, in addition to a special corner for the drawings of children who participated to express violations in their simple sense of what they see in their reality.
